Day 27 - Legendary Item

Atiesh, Staff of the Guardian by CAJH
I have no idea why, but I always liked the Atiesh staff. I think part of the reason why I like it so much is not only is it extremely rare, but it's also the staff of the Medivh. In order to get the staff, a long a grueling quest line was involved.

You would start the quest Frame of Atiesh in which you needed to collect 40 Splinters of Atiesh and then combine them to create the frame. In the next quest, Atiesh, the Befouled Greatstaff, the player needed to defeat not only Kel'Thuzad, but also C'thun to get the head and base of the staff. Finally, the last quest took the player into Stratholme to defeat the demon Atiesh and cleanse the staff. Doing this awarded the Legendary.

Sadly with the revamp of Naxxramas in WotLK, the staff was taken out. If you're on the shard collection quest, it can no longer be completed, but I read if you have the shards, and the staff head from Kel'Thuzad, C'thun will still drop the base thus allowing you to complete the quest chain.

This is a staff I would have loved to add to my collection. Sadly, this will never happen. Such a shame though, it would look wonderful with my tier 3!

Day 28 - Best Dance

The Blood Elf male dance is the best dance! I've always loved the movie Napoleon Dynamite. While not everyone really likes that movie, I love the awkward humor and acting in it, and that's a lot coming from someone who is really picky when it comes to comedy. I find it hard to find things that make me laugh. I even had a Liger shirt for the longest time, and I wore it until it had holes in it.

While I don't have a max level Blood Elf, I do have a BE Paladin who is my bank alt. I spend a lot of time on him, and I remember back when I used to PvP with him, I would /dance waiting for queues to pop. I also like that a good bit of the dances for each race shows what was popular at the time. In a sense, it's almost like a time warp back into that era. Regardless if you like the movie or not, this dance has definitely become a memorable moment in movie history!

Day 29 - Favorite Mount

Invincible by breathing2004
I've already expressed my love for this mount in a previous Blog Azeroth topic - Mountable Mounts. My opinion hasn't changed, and I have not been able to add this mount to my collection... yet. Yet is the keyword because I plan on farming ICC so many times that even the Lich King will be crying for me to go away. Invincible was Arthas' trusty steed in life, so he decided to resurrect him for the afterlife. You can still visit Tirisfall Glades and see the empty grave of the horse.

I want this mount so bad that I would give every other mount I have to own it. I even have the perfect screenshot planned out for when I get it. I really do plan on getting it, I just don't have any idea how long it will take me. So for now, I admire Invincible from afar. You will be mine one day, and you will be the star of my collection!

Day 30 - Burning Legion or The Scourge

March of the Legion by Dan Scott
"The fire that once burned the sky will return. It is inevitable. The Burning Legion WILL find Azeroth. Seas of blood, cities in ruins! Who are we - one divided world - to stand against a legion? You speak of hope. Believe me, the thinnest silver of belief that we might somehow survive the coming devastation is all that sustains me."
- Wrathion

The Scourge has nothing on the Burning Legion! They will be returning to Azeroth, but we're not exactly sure when and how. Ever since I started playing WoW, I've been hearing about Sargeras and his Legion. We've also has more information about the Titans revealed, but hardly nothing about the Pantheons. The mystery that shrouds all of this definitely adds to an appeal of a Burning Legion expansion. Personally I think if they eventually go that route, it won't be for a long time. Hopefully with WoD we get another taste of Kil'Jaeden. Seeing him for a little while in Sunwell just wasn't enough to keep me happy. Sadly, the day the Burning Legion do return to Azeroth, it won't be a happy time. We will definitely have to work together to defeat the Legion.

This post concludes 30 Days of World of Warcraft. It wasn't as grueling as I thought it would be, and I had a lot of fun with all the questions. I even managed to post everything on time! That's shocking! I want to thank everyone who participated, and I want to thank Meat-Vendors for making such a fun little project! Feel free to browse back and see all my past post. I did have a lot of fun doing it, but I will definitely be glad to blog about other things. :)

Razorfen Downs Transmog Guide

Here is another transmog guide I've compiled. In Warlords of Draenor, we are going to be seeing the revamp of some classic dungeons. As always I decided to focus on the things that have a unique model or color. Some of these items may make it into the new version of this dungeon, but I would pick up things I want just in case they don't. You can check out my other guides under my Transmog page at the top!

(Note: This list was made in MoP during patch 5.4. If you're reading this later than patch 5.4, I cannot guarantee these items will still be available.)

The quest The Coldbringer that you pick up from Koristrasza at the beginning of the instance offers a few unique colored pieces of gear as a reward.

Belt of Tyrannic Rule - This plate belt doesn't have a unique model or color, but it you're looking to try to complete the Redpath Plate set, it can take the place of the Rockpool Belt if you did the quest already.

Chestguard of Redemption - This is a mail chest that doesn't have a unique model, but it has a unique color. It is brown and yellow and part of the Thousand Needles Mail recolor set.

Coldbringer's Leggings - These cloth leggings aren't a unique model, but they have a unique color. They are the only cloth leggings of this model to have a blue band around the top with the purple design on the sides.

Tuten'kash

Carapace of Tuten'kash - This plate chestpiece shares a similar model and same color as the rare drop Tyrant's Chestpiece. This is a good alternative to get if you're waiting for the Tyrant chest to drop or pop up on AH.

Mordresh Fire Eye

Deathmage Sash - This is a unique model and color cloth belt. It is black and dark purple and matches the Twilight Trappings perfectly.

Glutton

Fleshhide Shoulders - These orange and tan leather shoulders are not a unique model, but have a unique skin. If you look closely they resembles sewn together flesh, like the Gnoll tents.

Amnennar the Coldbringer

Bonefingers - These are a unique model and color leather gloves. Their look reminds me of the no longer available Deathbone Gauntlets.

Deathchill Armor - This mail chestpiece isn't a unique model, but it has a unique color. It is the only grey version of this chestpiece available.

Icemetal Barbute - This plate helm isn't a unique model or color. It shares it's bright blue color with one other helm - Jouster's Visor. This may be easier to get if you're going for a blue transmog.

This NPC is located in a cage in the Murder Pens right before you get to Mordresh Fire Eye. After freeing and talking to him, he should give you the option to learn Major Troll's Blood Elixir for Alchemists (180+) and Goldthorn Tea for cooking (175+).

This is a "rare spawn" npc that isn't listed as a rare spawn. He doesn't have the silver dragon around his portrait, but he doesn't always spawn in the instance.

Boar Champion's Belt - This mail belt isn't a unique model or color. It shares the same red look with the Demon-Forged set and is a good alternative in case you did the quests for the others or can't get them to drop.

X'caliboar - This two handed sword isn't a unique model, but it has a unique hilt color. This version of this sword is the only one to have a solid brown hilt.

I may have made some mistakes, so if you find an error please feel free to leave a comment below! I feel if you start farming now, you probably will have more than enough time to get all the items you want! This doesn't mean some of the item models won't be reused, but it's better to grab something now than regret it later! Good luck and happy farming!

(Note: This list was made in MoP during patch 5.4. If you're reading this later than patch 5.4, I cannot guarantee these items will still be available.)

Thornspike - Not a unique model since there are others that are obtained via quests and other rare spawns. If you like this simple model and don't want to hunt it down, I suggest picking this up.

This boss also summons a Boar Spirit during the fight. This post from Tumblr suggests that if you're a hunter and would like this model, pick it up while it's still available! It keeps it's ghostly appearance!

Death Speaker Mantle - Cloth shoulders that have no unique model, but a unique color. They are dark yellow with black trimming.

Death Speaker Robes - A unique model and color cloth chest. They are dark gray/black with a dark yellow trim.

Death Speaker Scepter - A one handed mace that has no unique model but a unique color. It is the only version of this mace that is silver with a tiny hint of purple at the hilt.

Corpsemaker - This two handed axe shares the same model and color with the Midnight Axe - silver axe with a black design.  This one is probably easier to get as of right now!

Ferine Leggings - Green Leather pants that share the same model and color with the Shaggy Leggings from the Gordok Tribute in Dire Maul.

Pronged Reaver - A one handed axe with a unique color of this model. It basically looks like a wooden stick with sharp bones sticking out of it.

(rare spawn)

Nightstalker Bow - A unique colored bow. It's a dark wood color with black and silver trimming.

(rare spawn)

Wind Spirit Staff - a unique color of this staff model. It's wood colored with a blue and silver trimming.

Boar Pets

There are three different armored boar models from this instance: Rotting Agam'ar, Agam'ar, and Raging Agam'ar. They do share similar models with rare spawns all around Azeroth, but this can be a pain trying to hunt them down due to CRZ. You can find more information about them over at Petopia.

I may have made some mistakes, so if you find an error please feel free to leave a comment below! UBRS Transmog Guide

If you're a transmog nut like I am, chances are you like to try to collect as many pieces as you can. While my Void Storage and banks are packed with items, I'm always looking for ways to somehow fit other pieces in my collection. Before Cataclysm was released, I had known of the updates to many of the dungeons. This game me enough time to be able to run them and get the items I wanted just in case they were removed. I am glad I did because plenty of those items are actually no longer available! Since I'm blogging more and have more followers now, I figured I would compile a list of notable item drops in Upper Blackrock Spire, since it's supposedly getting updated in Warlords of Draenor. You can check out my other guides under my Transmog page at the top!

Heading to UBRS!
(Note: This list was made in MoP during patch 5.4. If you're reading this later than patch 5.4, I cannot guarantee these items will still be available.)

The quest General Drakkisath, Hand of Nefarian that you pick up from Acride at the beginning of the instance offers a few unique colored weapons.

Sword of Nefarian's Hand - This is a two handed sword that isn't a unique model, but it has a unique color. This is the only silver and green looking sword with this model.

Staff of the Second Orb - This staff doesn't have a unique model, but it has a unique color. It is the only version of this model that has a pink gem at the top and a more decorated staff bottom.

Vaelan's Claw - This dagger is a unique model and color. It also gives off a purple glow around it.

Truestrike Shoulders - Leather shoulders that have no unique model, but a unique color. They are the only orange/gold colored shoulders of that model.

Solakar Flamewreath

In the room of this boss, you can get the Leeeeeeeeeeeeeroy! achievement that nets you the title "Jenkins". This achievement is going to be turned into a Legacy Achievement, so get it now. You will still be able to get the title after the revamp via a different method.

Crystallized Girdle - A teal leather belt. I believe this is a unique model and color.

Polychromatic Visionwrap - A cloth chest piece that mimics the look of the Aboriginal Robe. A unique cloth chest model, and could match well with the rest of the Aboroginal Set or be used by a leather wearer with the Mystic Sarong for RP purposes.

Schematic: Hyper-Radiant Flame Reflector - A schematic for the collectors out there! Only available from this boss!

This guy is not a boss, but he is located in the Halls of Blackhand. He has the chance to drop a few blue items and some Blacksmithing patterns.

Mastersmith's Hammer - This one handed mace isn't a unique model, but it has a unique color. It is the only white and gold mace, and it shares the same look at the no longer obtainable Hammer of Revitalization.

Plans: Masterwork Stormhammer - A plan for the collectors out there! Only available from this mob!

Plans: Arcanite Champion - A plan for the collectors out there! Only available from this mob!

Dragonskin Cowl  - A light purple cloth head piece. It's a unique color since it's a lighter shade of purple, maybe even lavender.

Gyth's Skull - A plate helm that has no unique model, but a unique color. It's the only red with white trimming colored helm of the model.

Brilliant Chrimatic Scale - These are used in crafting the Chromatic Cloak. The pattern is unobtainable today, but if you find a leatherworker who has it, it can still be crafted. It might be a good idea to stack up on some of these if you have the pattern.

Warmaster Legguards - These plate legs are Brutish Legguards lookalikes. These would be good to have for a placeholder until you get the Brutish ones.

Eye of Rend - This item isn't unique at all, but I really like the name of it, and the fact that it's the same eye patch that the boss is wearing.

Felstriker - This is an epic drop from the boss. I think some twinks still like to use it, but I'm not 100% sure. So if you're into twinking in the 60 bracket, this may be something to take a look at.

Blackhand Doomsaw - This polearm doesn't have a unique model or color. It does share the same model as a polearm the Alliance and Horde can get from an Outlands quest. I know some people may have did that quest, so this may be your only option.

Dal'Rend's Tribal Guardian and Dal'Rend's Sacred Charge - These two swords are a set and very cool to have. While the Sacred Charge shares the same color with someheirlooms, the Tribal Guardian is a unique color for the model.

Spiritshroud Leggings - Cloth Leggings that have no unique model, but a unique color. They are the only pale blue/white/and black colored pants of that model. They are similar in style to the Pants of the Naaru, but have more of a bottom to them.

Frostweaver Cape - I believe this is the only orange version of this cloak model. It's a unique color, and it shares a similar model with the unobtainable Earthweave Cloak.

Blackmist Armguards -  Navy colored leather bracers. These are a unique color and currently the only bracers that match perfectly with the Stormshroud Set.

Blademaster Leggings - Leather leggings that have no unique model, but a unique color. They are the only red colored pants of that model.

Seeping Willow - This green and gold mace is a unique model and color

Ironweave Boots - Part of the cloth set, Ironweave Battlesuit.

Brigam Girdle - I believe this is a unique model and color for a plate belt. It's gold and black.

Pattern: Red Dragonscale Breastplate - A pattern for the collectors out there! Only available from this boss!

Recipe: Flask of the Titans - A recipe for the collectors out there! Only available from this boss!

Blackblade of Shahram - This is an epic drop from the boss. It shares its model with the Massacre Sword, but it a unique color of silver and purple.

Jed Runewatcher
(rare spawn)

Serpentine Skuller - This wand is not a unique model, but it has a unique color. It's the only skull version of this wand to have a purple and blue hilt with a white skull.

Starfire Tiara - I'm going to say this cloth headpiece is a unique model and color. It shares the same model with the Holy Diadem, but this item is claimed to no longer be in the game. This is great to use for a Wonder Woman inspired transmog!

(summoned)

This boss is one of the rarer bosses in UBRS. He can only be summoned by using the Brazier of Invocation that was given to the player after completing the Vanilla quest Return to Bodley. To this day, newer players still ask veteran players with the item if they could get a summon of the boss.

Ironweave Cowl - Part of the cloth set Ironweave Battlesuit.

Handguard of Savagery - These mail gloves have a unique model and color. They are tan and pale green. They share the same model with the no longer obtainable Wastewalker's Gauntlets and Desertstalkers' Gauntlets.

I may have made some mistakes, so if you find an error please feel free to leave a comment below! I feel if you start farming now, you probably will have more than enough time to get all the items you want! This doesn't mean some of the item models won't be reused, but it's better to grab something now than regret it later! Good luck and happy farming!

Blackfathom Deeps Transmog Guide

Here is another transmog guide I've compiled. In Warlords of Draenor, we are going to be seeing the revamp of some classic dungeons. As always I decided to focus on the things that have a unique model or color. Some of these items may make it into the new version of this dungeon, but I would pick up things I want just in case they don't. You can check out my other guides under my Transmog page at the top!

(Note: This list was made in MoP during patch 5.4. If you're reading this later than patch 5.4, I cannot guarantee these items will still be available.)

The Alliance only quest that are picked up at the beginning of the instance that offer a few unique transmog choices. The quest Knowledge of the Deeps offers the following:

Eventide Bow - This bow is not a unique model, but it has a unique color. Since the Massive Longbow that looks like this is a vendor bought item with no stats, it cannot be transmogged.

Dusk-Stained Cloak - As far as I can find, this cloak is a unique model and color. It is a short purple cloak. There are longer exact models, but if you don't want tail clipping as an Alliance character, this may be a good choice.

The quest Researching the Corruption offers the following:

Dissector - This dagger isn't a unique model or color. It shares the same look with the Syndicate Dagger from a low level Alliance quest reward that you may have completed previously.

Shadestar Mace - This mace isn't a unique model or color. It shares the same look as the Dense Triangle Mace which sells good for transmog. If you like this mace, this is an easier way to get it currently.

The quest Twilight Falls offers the following:

Gift of the Enigmatic Tree - This staff isn't a unique model or color. It shares the same model as the Staff of the Earthmother (Horde only Priest quest) and Agamaggan's Quill from an Outlands quest.

Nimbus Boots - These cloth boots are not a unique model, but they have a unique color. They are the only version of these boots that are blue and black!

Ghamoo-Ra

Tortoise Armor - This is a unique model and color mail chestpiece. It is green and light blue.

Ghamoo-Ra's Bind - This cloth belt isn't a unique model or color, however it shares the same look as the Sanguine Belt but is probably a lot easier to obtain.

Lady Sarevess

Darkwater Talwar - This is a one handed sword with a unique color for it's model. It shares the same model with the unobtainable Dragonmaw Shortsword and Sword of Insurgence (Horde quest item). This is currently the only way an Alliance could get this colored sword.

Naga Battle Gloves - These leather gloves are a unique color but not a unique model. They are brown with black trimming.

Algae Fists - These mail gloves share the same model and color with the gloves from the green Marshcreeper Mail recolor. These are probably easier to obtain if you're collecting this set.

(Horde Only boss. Summoned by the quest Amongst the Ruins)

Once defeated, Baron Aquanis will drop a Strange Water Globe that starts the quest Baron Aquanis. The two quest items you can chose from are both uniquely colored for their models.

Outlaw Sabre - This one handed sword isn't a unique model, but it has a unique color. It is the only version of this sword with a golden hilt with blue laced through it.

Witch's Finger - This wand isn't a unique model, but it has a unique color. It's currently the only purple and black model of this wand.

Twilight Lord Kelris

Rod of the Sleepwalker - This staff is not a unique model, but it has a unique color. It is the only version of this staff to have a pretty aqua colored jewel at the end of it.

Gaze Dreamer Pants - These cloth pants are a unique model and color. They are brown with gold trimming.

Old Serra'kis

Bite of Serra'kis - This dagger doesn't have a unique model, but it has a unique color. It is the only tooth looking dagger that has a "bloody" look to it. Pretty cool!

Aku'mai

Moss Cinch - This leather belt has a unique color and model. It is a green and orange patterned belt.

Strike of the Hydra - This two handed sword doesn't have a unique model, but it has a unique color. It's the only model that has a wooden hilt with green trimming.

I may have made some mistakes, so if you find an error please feel free to leave a comment below! I feel if you start farming now, you probably will have more than enough time to get all the items you want! This doesn't mean some of the item models won't be reused, but it's better to grab something now than regret it later! Good luck and happy farming!

I wanted to wish all the Mother's out there, inside and outside Azeroth, a Happy Mother's Day. I made these little images over the course of three days to celebrate the different types of Mothers out there. Please click for a bigger view, thanks!

Transmog Time: Cosmetic Helms

Since the Blizzard store cosmetic helms are on sale this week, I decided to do another transmog post for them. Each helm is currently on sale for $10 (USD) until May 20th, and they can be purchased by clicking on the banner below! I think I want one, but I haven't decided which one I will pick up yet.

I really don't like doing two transmog posts back to back, but since the other one was more of a farming guide, I guess I can let it slide. I also like to try to find items that will be available to all classes, races, and faction. I hope you enjoy!

I actually thought that this one would be the hardest one for me to find things to match with since it's so black and extremely red. I found a lot of the Mists of Pandaria gear matches really well with it, but I know that not everyone is able to get into heroics for just transmog gear, so I settled for pieces much easier to get.

Helm: Hood of Hungering Darkness

This was the hardest one for me to match. I started three different times before I decided on going with this. I was going to end up purchasing this to go along with my Tier 3, but I'm glad I didn't because it doesn't really match.

This set is my favorite out of all three, and so far the best candidate for the helm I may buy. With these big horns, you're sure to feel like some fire breathing demon from the Twisting Nether.

Gloves: Ritual Gloves
Bracers:Mindthrust Bracers (if you can justify using twink bracers for Transmog)
Belt: Cincture of Polarity
WoWHead Set Link

As always, I cater to cloth wearers, but feel free to share some pictures in the comments section of your plate, mail, or leather wearer making these helms work in a transmog! Thank you!

Blog Azeroth: Interface and Addons

$
0
0
It's been a while since I participated in a shared topic, and it's been pretty quiet lately over at Blog Azeroth. I know there are a lot of bloggers out there, and some that are looking to start up. This is a great place to go to find topics. Usually they are change weekly/bi-weekly. It's been a while since I participated, so here is my entry for this week.

"What interface and addons are you guys using in game? What's your recommended resource sites to go to and where to download it. How are they useful to your play style? How can it benefit you as a great raider, PvPer or even just soloing?"

While I use some addons, I definitely have to say I don't use many. I like to keep my interface pretty stock looking with just a few tweaks here and there. I used to use a custom interface back in BC and WotLK, but I got tired of messing with it, accidentally resetting it, or having to update everything on patch days.

My bottom left and right bars contain my buffs, cool downs, and then my consumables at the end. Starting at the top, my right bars have the current mounts I'm using - Onyxian Drake, Fey Dragon, Zulian Panther, White Raptor. Next is my Mini Tyrael and Spectral Tiger Cub mini pets. After that I have my professions all bundled together. At the bottom I keep my Time Warp, Mass Resurrection, and my Portals and Heartstone to get to where I need to be.

Below the cut is a list of the addons I'm currently using and what I think of each of them. I will also provide a download link for each in case you're curious about them! Even though the downloads are from Curse, I still recommend you scan each pack with a virus program before you install them on your computer.

This is a must if you love to hunt down rare mobs for transmog gear, rare drops, or just a hunter wanting to tame a pet. I've also been known to use this when hunting for rarer mini pets out in the world.

I like gold. I like making gold and I like to see how much of it I have on each character, each faction, and total. This addon is also useful for seeing how much gold you made and how much you spent weekly.

I've been using this addon since I first learned about it way back when I started playing. It has almost every item you could possibly imagine in there. Great for seeing what drops from who and where.

I don't sell anything other than transmog items when I need to make gold on the AH, so this addon was perfect for me. It's simple to use, and I can keep track of items I'm looking to buy with shopping lists. I have shopping lists for each type of armor, mini pets, mounts, patterns, and even random other objects that I'd like.

This is a useful pet battle addon if you're looking to upgrade all your battle pet to rare quality. It not only tells you if you have the pet in your collection or not, but it also tells you if it's an upgrade!

This lets you set your inventory bags to be one huge bag, or two merged, or whatever you feel like. For example, all my priest's bags are merged except for the last one since it's my herbalism bag You can also use it for your bank, but I never do since I find the default bank is fine.

I only use this when I'm in fire spec for my mage. It tells me the exact perfect moment to use Combustion to maximize my DPS. It also gives warnings for an early Living Bomb refresh, and it can be set to give a summary in your chat window.

This is a lightweight addon that shows coordinates on my map. It does nothing more.

If you like to raid, old ones or new ones, this is a must. It tells has timers on boss abilities, range radars, fastest kills, and even lets you know to MOVE OUT OF THE FIRE! You can also download packs for all the different expansions. I only have MoP and WotLK installed right now.

This is one of the newer addons I started using. It gets rid of a lot of the clutter the default Blizzard UI has. I use it to remove the silver Gryphons on the side of my ability bars, and for a few other things. Definitely give this a try if you want to remove a lot of the clutter without having to make yourself a custom UI.

It's spell check for WoW. Most of the time my hands are typing faster than my brain can spell, and this catches most of my mistakes and allows me to correct them.

This addon feels like a game in itself. I spend way too much time on here, but it's perfect for people like me who LOVE to transmog. It shows you the items, lookalikes, and exactly where you can get them. It also tells you if you completed the quest or not, which is really helpful if you've completed Loremaster. You can also save item sets in a wishlist.

This addon lets you save pet teams for later use. This was really helpful when I was doing the Celestial Tournament. I would make my teams and name them according to what tamer they would beat. Very useful, and it saves you a bunch of time.

This is a mailbox addon that automatically opens your mail instead of having to click on each individual letter. It's really good if you sell in bulk on the AH. It also tells you how many letters aren't showing if your mailbox is already full.

This is the damage meter I prefer to use. I don't really mess with it much, and I only use it when I'm in LFR to see how much pew pew I can do, but as you can see, there are plenty of options.

This post was a nice and quiet getaway from most of the silly negativity going on in the Warcraft Twitter/blogging world right now. I probably will not be posting my opinions on the matter either, but I do want to make another Warlords of Draenor post soon. Next week I have an exploration post by request of a good friend, so stay tunes for that! Also, I'm always looking for different addons to try out. If you have one that you use and think I may possible like, feel free to let me know in the comments below!

A Glimpse of the Past

I dreamed about it last night, the plague. It doesn't really bother me, and I rarely ever dwell back to my past life. It seems like such a distant memory that in fact it feels like I never was quite fully alive. However, I was born and raised in Lordaeron. I lived on a little farm, raised chickens, sheep, and a few horses. I look back on that time quite fondly. I had friends. We would gather at the tavern some nights to dance, drink, and sing until late in the evening.

I remember becoming interested in magic, and eventually I wanted to study in Dalaran. A few friends and myself would travel to the Hillsbrad Foothills once or twice a month when we could spare. We loved the town of Southshore. Life on the coast was much different from our farm lives, and many people from Dalaran would often frequent the shops and tavern there. I also met an extremely good friend there. It has been so many years that he doesn't even seem like he was ever a real person. He was the first boy to have a special place in my heart. His hair was much fairer than mine, and he had eyes that were darker than the darkest nights. We would ride horses, go swimming in the cool lakes, and even spend nights out under the stars. I would always look forward to seeing him and his family when I visited Southshore.

Eventually I was able to start visiting Dalaran and borrowing some of the magical books to take home with me to look over. I was definitely looking forward to eventually moving away from my little farm life, and begin my training as a mage. I was also looking forward to being able to see my friend a lot more. We even talked about eventually starting a life of our own together someday. Sadly, I never got the opportunity to do any of that as the plague struck not too long after. I lost my family, my friends, and my love. It's painful to think about it, and that's possibly why I never wrote about it before.

I wasn't able to gather many items from my past, but I do have some things. I have a few photos, trinkets, and random items that I keep in a box in my bank. I decided to pour over some of them today. These were some of the last photos taken of myself in Southshore. He took them, and I don't think I've ever looked happier.

*Scribbled on the back*
V my love,
I can't wait until you move to Hillsbrad, and we can be together more. I'm so proud of your studies, and I know you will become a powerful mage someday.

The Blizzard Archive

A while back I had thought about a few things regarding the Blizzard Archive, but I never decided to write a post about it. Today something got me thinking back on this topic, and it seemed like the perfect topic to blog about this week.

Back in March of this year, Blizzard put out the announcement that the Mists of Pandaria Digital Deluxe edition was going to be heading into their vaults. That news wasn't really that special until the last line at the bottom:

"The Digital Deluxe edition might come back out of the archive in the future, but even the jinyu waterspeakers don’t know if or when."

If or when is definitely vague, and I shouldn't be digging. However, I'm the kind of person that feels if something like that is put out there, it's return will possibly be considered. Anyway, today I logged online and checked my favorite WoW sites to see that now the Guardian Cub will be making his way into the vault also. However, on this post we don't get a vague note that he could be returning in the future.

This entire thing got me thinking about the Disney Vault. As many of you know, Disney films will get taken out of the vault and re-released for a limited time before being packed away again. What if Blizzard was thinking about doing this in the future with previous expansions? This idea makes me excited just to think about.

What if Blizzard released Digital Deluxe versions of every past expansion that didn't have one? In reality, the only thing you would be paying for is having the CE attached to your account and the mini pets they come with, but I'm fine with that. Blizzard could also go back and add a mount and other goodies for Diablo and Starcraft, but then I guess people who purchased the original CE's will complain about how awesome they are to have bought the CE way back when, but seriously... who cares? No one is really a special little snowflake anymore.

The cool kids
I can't speak for everyone else, but if Blizzard decided to do this, I'd be happy to throw out some money. So I'm curious to your thoughts...
Could you see this happening in the future? How would you feel if Blizzard decided to release Digital Deluxe editions of previous expansions? Let me know in the comments below!

Azeroth Community Troubles

I've always liked being part of different communities online, and I pretty much have been since I was into boy bands when I was 13 or so. I've been part of a toy and doll collecting community longer than I've been with the WoW community. The WoW community looks like a tea party compared to the other! It's because of the high prices that dolls can go for in the other community ($2000+), and the fact that people can get custom items made from certain designers. People get jealous of other things people have; they get mad at the price of items; they even get mad about the friends you have. I used to like participating in the forums and posting my pictures to Flickr, but I stopped once people began making pages to call out and say nasty things about other members. Thankfully I was never popular enough to get any negative attention, and the people I met there were really great.

Collecting toys and dolls shouldn't be so stressful!
When I first joined the WoW community, I saw it as a nice and friendly place where everyone seemed to get along. We all had WoW in common! I blogged since I started raiding in BC with no one to read it except for a few close friends. This was a great way to get my posts out there. I do this because I enjoy the game. While I've seen others participate in arguments and disagreements, I never really had any. Recently I had my first negative experience, and hopefully it's my last. I don't have many followers, and I'm really not that interesting, but somehow one of my opinions seemed to upset someone. I wish I would have been privately messaged to discuss it, but looking back I reacted that way because I felt attacked by this person who I never had any previous contact with. I was waiting for others to jump in against me, but thankfully it didn't happen. I felt bad, but since I like to keep a public profile, I blocked the person. Later on that day I received many tweets and some DMs saying not to worry about it because this seems to happen quiet often with that person.

Toxic communities aren't fun and negativity can make you sick.
I don't want to leave the WoW community, and I won't over something like this, but I won't stop posting my opinions either. I left that toy collecting community, and I check up on it often, but I feel like an outsider walking into a new place. I don't ever want it to be like that with WoW. Azeroth is my home, and just like any other video game I play, I play WoW to have fun. This is a hobby to me, not a job. I don't make money off of this blog, but I write here because I like the game, and I play the game because I enjoy all the wonderful people I've met through it. I have so many good memories here, and Velgana isn't done with exploring quite yet.

As with most of my venting posts, I will be disabling comments. Expect my blog to get back to normal next week since I had the death of my Grandpa and his funeral to deal with this week. I have a post on my Legendary cloak lined up along with an exploration post that a friend requested!

The Breath of Yu'lon - My Legendary Cloak

A few months ago, I was one of those people who thought they would never complete their legendary cloak quest. Rewind to last year - I always played WoW on a laptop, and finally mine decided it wasn't going to allow me to run LFR anymore. It would freeze, blue screen, then force me to have to restart. By the time I got back into the game I was usually kicked from the group. I couldn't even play the game with any graphics turned up to good anymore. That's when I decided to stop going after my cloak. Throne of Thunder was out and I had stopped after this part. I was pretty sad about it.

One of my first meetings with Wrathion
Since I've gotten my new desktop, my gaming experience has been nothing but amazing. My graphics are cranked up to ultra, and I can run LFR without any hiccups. So I decided to start backing working towards getting my cloak.

I figured since collecting the Sigils of Wisdom and Sigils of Power took forever, the Secrets of the Empire would take just as long. Surprisingly it didn't, and I was finished with that part of the quest in about a month. I also had the Trillium Bars made already since I was making Living Steel. Before I knew it, I was on to the next part.

Feeding Wrathion a balanced breakfast. /burp
I don't know if I was lucky, but it took me 3 weeks to collect my Titan Runestones. I think that's pretty normal for most people. Yesterday I was able to finish that part, complete Yu'lon's challenge, defeat the Celestials, and then finally was awarded with my Legendary cloak!

Yu'lon's challenge was easier than I expected, and I completed it first try. I was frost spec and aside from my class buffs and cooldowns, I used a food buff, Crystal of Insanity, Celestial Offering, and the 3 Pi'jiu Brews to help me. I also had some Healthstones left over from running LFR. Having those in case I got into a sticky situation was nice. I think as a ranged DPS, I had it a lot easier than others.

So after 9 months, it is done! I couldn't be happier and to celebrate, I transmogged to the same set that I was wearing when I first talked to Wrathion to take up the task of collecting this cloak! If you'd like to see all of my screenshots from I took while collecting my cloak, you can do so by clicking HERE.

Newman's Landing

A few weeks ago I got a message from a friend who plays WoW with us. He asked if I could do a post on Newman's Landing. I figured this would be the perfect time. Rather than just talking about this as an exploration post, I decided to make up a little story to go along with it. We're gonna be traveling by boat, so grab your pirate hats and let's get going!

I've heard tales of Newmans's Landing while passing through Booty Bay. One day my curiosity got the best of me, and I began asking around. Most of the people I talked to were afraid to talk about the place. I was beginning to think it didn't even really exist. There were rumors of illegal trading, and ghastly initiation rituals for "new men" joining the pirate ranks. I decided to scope things out myself.

I was able to borrow a ship, and I took to the seas. The place was really easy to find, but I was quite disappointed upon arrival. Things looked pretty run down, however, I did see goblins fishing off of the pier. High Admiral "Shelly" Jorrik sat there with two Booty Bay Bruisers who were drinking and laughing. I was shocked to have been greeted so graciously. I sat down with Admiral Shelly to see if I could get some more information about the place, and to see if any of the rumors were true.

Admiral Shelly opened us each a bottle of rum and began to explain to me that the house had been there for ages. It used to belong to a little fishing family. Once the Orcs invaded Azeroth, the family fell victim to them. The story goes that the savage Orcs killed them and tossed their bodies into the raging sea. It wasn't until many years later that some pirates stumbled upon the rundown house and slaughtered the remaining Orcs that had taken up residence there.

Pirates began to use the place for trading; rum, cloth, exotic foods, basically whatever they could get their hands on. Sometimes they would take new members of their crew here for an initiation process. The Admiral said the process usually involved getting tattooed and being thrown in the cold waters to swim back to shore. Definitely not some of the horror stories I heard down at the Bay.

"We may all be scum, but we still have some respect for each other. Since I left the Bloodsail Bucaneers, I decided to take of residence here. There is still some trading that goes on, but many things have quieted down since the Shattering," he said with his huge Goblin grin. "We like the tales people make up about us. Keeps us mysterious, dangerous, and feared throughout the land. There is no doubt in my mind though, one day the Pirates will rule these seas once again."

Before I left, we shared a meal of grilled Smallfish, and he offered me a rare pattern that he gets his hands on every so often. They offered me to stay the night, but I politely declined. I figure it was better I take off now than to wait until nightfall. I got on my boat and set my sales back to Booty Bay. With the wind in my hair, and the salty sea air blowing across my face, I could definitely see the appeal of traveling like this. I looked down at my map and smiled; I couldn't wait to be back on land. Yo ho, yo ho... a pirates life's not for me.

The Sea Calf Lives!

"Come my children! We ride... to battle!"
The sea calf army is a go! Well, not yet, but at least in Warlords of Draenor. I started my crusade back in October of 2013 when I first set my eyes on little Allie on the Timeless Isle. It was in October of last year that I discovered this little cutie, and I began obsessing with wanting one as a mini pet.

I thought nothing more about it until around December when the Harpy's Nest blog decided to host a mini pet competition. Of course I decided to do my entry on the Sea Cows from the daily quest The Way To His Heart... in Northrend. I ended up winning the competition and was extremely grateful for it. About a month later, Jonathan LeCraft asked what new battle pets we would like to see. Of course I replied!

After this, things were pretty quiet on Twitter. I think I asked Jeremy Feasel and maybe one more dev, but I can't find anything about it if I did. However, I got no answer, so I left it alone. Since the Warlords of Draenor Beta was announced and in full effect, sites have been data mining and posting things left and right. I've was keeping up with pretty much every mini pets that was being added so far, but I  was not seeing my little sea calf. Finally I decided to ask again.

And then... Oh, my, gosh...

So collectors who have also been wanting a sea calf mini pet for a while, rejoice! We will be able to add this little cutie to our collections in Warlords of Draenor. I think it was determined that this one will be coming from fishing.

So I would like to throw out a million thanks to TheCrafticus for answering my requests on Twitter and doing something so simple for us mini pet collectors who really wanted one of these! This is definitely one little guy I will be happy to cross off my list! You've definitely made this Undead mage very, very happy!

Blog Azeroth: What in WoW Reminds You of Home?

I couldn't wait to participate in this weeks Blog Azeroth Shared Topic. I saw it a few weeks back when Syrco Owl posted it to Twitter, and I got extremely excited about it! It's a really simply question:

"What in WoW reminds you of home?"

I live in the deep south - Louisiana to be precise. I'm really close to the coast and located in the middle of a ton of marshes. The first zone that came to mind was an area that I felt not only resembled the area I live in, but some of the quests reminded me of the history and folklore of the area. That zone was Dustwallow Marsh.

Marsh area reminded me of home instantly. It reminded me of going trawling with my Dad when I was younger. The fact that it's along the coast also makes me think of all the fishing jobs around here. Most younger men work on off-shore oil boats while a lot of the older men still make their living catching shrimp, crabs, and fish. Of course, if you look carefully enough in Dustwallow, you can find Nat Pagle fishing!

When you first enter Dustwallow, there is the broken down Shady Rest Inn. While you find out that the Inn suffered a fire to cover up it's past, it still reminded me of a place close to home. The place where I live is prone to getting hit with hurricanes. In 1893, there was a really bad one that hit the port town of Grand Isle and wiped a town called Cheniere completely off the map. I've seen pictures of the destruction it left, and what was left of the Herwig Hotel reminded me exactly of that little end sitting at the entrance.

Something more recently added to Dustwallow also made me think of that lost town of Cheniere; the destruction of Theremore. Some of the survivors from Cheniere left, but many stayed and tried to rebuild. One of those nearby towns they settled in is called Leville. Of course, they buried lost loved ones in the swampy ground. I was about 12 and headed to the beach when my parents pointed out the old graveyard. At the time, the water was coming up upon them. Now you can't even see them anymore. Water has taken them to the bottom of the sea. Hopefully the Theremore graveyard holds up a bit better than this one did.

There is a lady named Tabetha who used to gives the mage quests back in Vanilla and Burning Crusades. She always reminded me of the New Orleans Voodoo Queen Marie Laveau. I have no idea why, but maybe it's because she was practicing magic and took on apprentices in such an out of the way little area in the swamp.

The quests that involve Swamp Eye Jarl and Mordant Grimsby remind me of tales of spirit possession and "zombies" that follow the voodoo culture. I also love the fact that their little hut is called Swamplight Manor. If you haven't done this quest line, I suggest doing so. It's one of my favorites in the zone!

Finally, this has nothing to do with the zone of Dustwallow Marsh, but I can't help but think of our yummy Cajun cuisine when I see certain WoW foods pop up. The cooking daily Crawfish Creole definitely makes my mouth water, and I can't help but get hungry when someone puts down a pot of Goblin Gumbo! It's the little things like that in WoW which I absolutely love because they remind me of who I am and where I came from. That is always something you should never forget!

Whispers of Tirisfall Part 1

Ever since I stumbled upon the magical mushroom circle in Tirisfall Glades and hearing about others experiencing the event, I wanted to see it. I never had the opportunity, so a few months back I decided to take Vel out there to wait for the event to happen. This is is my, or better yet her, encounter of the Whispering Forest event:

Sunday, May 4th, Nightfall

8:07 - I've heard tales of the Whispering Forest, but I've never seen it for myself. I left the comfort of the Shrine and set off to Tirisfall Glades. Once I arrived, I noticed two of the Fey-Drunk Darters were already flying around. I took rest upon a mushroom and decided to wait.

8:15 - At this time I was beginning to think that they may spawn every seven minutes since I heard rumors that it took seven Fey for the event to begin. The woods are quiet tonight and a chill wind blows through. Nothing else around except a few stags and their plagued mates. Not very unusual since the land around is mostly dead. I should know first hand since I come from a place not far from here...

8:24 - I guess my theory of the Feys spawning every seven minutes was proven to be wrong. Before I could even finish writing down my last observation in my journal, the 4th and 5th were fluttering around before my eyes. It seems that there is no pattern that I can notice. I will keep watching.

8:28 - As if the chilled night air wasn't enough, it just started raining. To warm myself I decided to take a walk around the area. Aside from small rats, deer, and some little bugs, I found a sleeping bear. Again, it looks plagued like much of the wildlife around, yet so out of place to be this high up. Regardless, I don't think it noticed me as it didn't even move from its sleep.

8:33 - After my trip around the forest, I walked back to the mushrooms. The 6th Fey popped up out of thin air. It's still raining and doesn't look like it will be letting up anytime soon. I would love to have a warm cup of tea from the Shrine, but I suppose that will have to wait.

8:48 - So almost 40 minutes after I arrived, the 7th Fey has come. The next part is supposedly the longest part. I just have to be patient and wait until they decide it is time. Hopefully I am worthy to witness such an event. I am nervous and excited all at the same time. I've heard so many rumors about this place... maybe I shouldn't get too close?

9:40 - I had nibbled on a few pieces of bread and tried to give some crumbs to the local wildlife, but they weren't interested. Suddenly I noticed the Darters beginning to circle around me. Before I knew it, they were merged by a green light and began to sing their haunting song. I felt compelled to join in the celebration, but using better judgement I decided to watch from afar. It was so mesmerizing and before I knew it, the deer had also joined in watching. It was almost as if it were too beautiful to look away, and some"magic"was almost forcing you to watch.

Before I knew it, it was all over. The Fey Darters were gone and the wildlife began to slowly walk back into the Whispering Forest. As I write about this now, I don't think my words can explain the beauty of this event. This is something that if you have the time, you should definitely go and experience it for yourself.

I wanted to continue on with this post about some speculation and my thoughts on the Whispers of Tirisfall, but I realized the post was getting way too long and very confusing. Instead I have decided to break it up into two parts. Stay tuned for next week when I pick apart the Whispering Glades.

Whispers of Tirisfall Part 2

Tirisfall Glades houses many areas that hold "whispers" - the Whispering Forest, Whispering Shores, and Whispering Gardens. While the forest and shore are in close proximity with one another, the gardens are located around Scarlet Monastery. Supposedly they hold the whispers of the dead from a battle between the Scourge and the Scarlet Crusade. After visiting, I heard no such thing, so I'm not sure if they are linked. However, if you think about how you can still hear the "whispers" from the event of Arthas killing his father in the Throne Room of Lordaeron, then the lands of Tirisfall do tend hold on to the memories of past events.

The Whispering Shores are also rumored to be the place where Dath'Remar Sunstrider and his fleet touched shore. You can find remains of old High Elf ships on the shores close to Scarlet Monastery. Here is an excerpt from WoWpedia:

"Sunstrider led the high elven fleets across the world for many long years. Their goal was to find places of considerable ley power for them to build their new homeland. After landing on the Lordaeron continent, they moved inland and formed a settlement in the Tirisfal Glades. After a few years, however, many were driven insane. The belief at the time was that something evil slept beneath the Glades, so the high elves abandoned the region and moved northwards."

We know that the beings who love to whisper madness and insanity into all those around them are the Old Gods. They are what drove Neltharion (Deathwing) to insanity. We saw his madness take on the form of destruction in Cataclysm. I found this piece of information about Fairy Rings in old folklore pretty interesting:

"In Tyrol, folklore attributed fairy rings to the fiery tails of flying dragons; once a dragon had created such a circle, nothing but toadstools could grow there for seven years."
(taken from Wikipedia)

Screenshot from Alazar
The fiery flying dragons sounds a lot like Deathwing. He did fly over the whole of Azeroth and left immense damage in his path. Perhaps something in the Whispering Forest was awoken by this. Looking at the patch notes, this area became named during patch 4.2 in Cataclysm (6-28-2011). Since there are seven Fey-Drunk Darter's that spawn, perhaps if WoW is still around in 2018, we can see if the fairy circle will open up a portal to another realm. ;)

Of course, I am hoping that N'zoth will be the next Old God we will encounter, and I even wrote an entire speculation post before the Dark Below was proven to be a hoax expansion. While I still think N'zoth has more to do with the sea and Lady Azshara, he is still linked to the Emerald Dream in lore. Let's take a look at the Glyph of One With Nature. This is a Druid glyph that has a chance to teleport the player to a random location... the Whispering Forest is one of those locations. Since Druids have been responsible in the past for keeping the nightmares from the Emerald Dream at bay, this location could hold a secret. While I do not believe this is the Rift of Aln, I do believe that it could be another smaller rift that could open up the Emerald Nightmare. I believe the Fey are protecting whatever it is and possibly using their lullaby to keep the evil calm and hopefully asleep.

Screenshot from WoWInsider.
I believe that the evil that sleeps beneath the Glades is still there and active, and I'm still holding on to it being an Old God or maybe a portal to another world. Even though Blizzard has said there isn't an Old God under there, they did acknowledge that there is something, and it is extremely powerful. Blizzard has been known to go back and fourth on their word, so I take everything they say with a few grains of salt. You never know what could change. So, what do you think is buried underneath Tirisfall Glades? Let me know in the comments below.
